Hockey is a non-traditional sport. Many of our coaches today are caring parents wanting to do good things for their kids and community. Many do not have hockey backgrounds. Many that do may be limited by old teaching paradigms. The true development of kids needs to focus on 4 talent fundamentals: Physical, Mental, Emotional and Social. Most sports today focus only on the Physical. With limited time and resources, how do you learn how to develop and tap into the other talents?
We are all a product of our environment. We all learn the same way: what we SEE, what we HEAR and what we EXPERIENCE. This learning process shapes who we are and what we do. What if what you have SEEN, HEARD and EXPERIENCED were NOT the right things? How do you know? What can you do to find out? More importantly, how can you change old, negative habits into positive, long term habits?
I started USA Clinics in 1996 to help change the way hockey players learn and train and how coaches teach the game. We have trained over 10,000 hockey players nationwide. Many have enjoyed success from select & travel teams, to High School, College, USA National teams and Professional Hockey. Our camps and clinics continue to provide an incredible training opportunity to ice and roller hockey players.
But in order to truly get to a level that few athletes and people ever reach, you must have private, individual lessons which layout the development path to not only become a better player, but a more complete person. These universal and fundamental principles apply to sport and life. Take any athlete you can think of, from Tiger Woods to Sidney Crosby, from Michael Jordan to Lance Armstrong...EVERY ONE of them have a personal trainer who helps to create a deeper awareness of their Strengths and Weaknesses in order to excel at their sport.
